Customer Reviews
I ordered this from the seller Boxed In USA. I am very pleased with the fast shipping and delivery. I placed the order on a Wednesday and it arrived the next Monday. This kit comes with the following:
M187 Rifle(Echo-1 ASR) with M4 style grip, collapsible stock, and a weaver rail
4x32 mil-mark scope w/scope covers and mounting rings
A 30+ round magazine
adjustable bipod
left handed bolt adapter(easy switch for southpaws)
3 Allen Wrenches
speed loader
small pack of .20g bb's
I will review the sniper rifle based on each part of it:
Rifle: The rifle itself, not counting the scope and bipod is very high quality. It has a very nice weight to it and is comfortable to hold and aim, especially if you prefer M4 and tactical style guns. The six position stock is a definite plus because it allows for maximum comfort and a good grip. The only weaver mount is on the top for the scope. The magazine can hold roughly 30 bb's and goes into the forward grip. Also located on the forward grip is the hop-up hole that can be adjusted with the included allen wrench, and the bipod slot. I wish there were a quicker way to adjust the hop-up, but it is nice knowing that nothing could ever bump it out of adjustment because it is in a very deep hole. The hop-up is fairly easy to adjust, and does make a difference. The pull on the bolt is a little strong, but easy to get used to. It slides very well and has a good feel to it. It seems that the gun was designed for use with .25-.28g bb's. I do not recommend using .12g bbs because they will go about thirty feet and then start flying all over the place. I have gotten .20's to work ok, but they do tend to hop up at about 50-70ft and then get caught a little by the wind. The maximum effective range for .20's would be about 100ft(maximum effective range meaning the distance at which you could hit a torso sized target). The maximum range with .25 and above is much closer to 175-200. Sometimes bb's will go a bit sideways, but that can be fixed by screwing the hop-up back and forth a tiny bit. The actual rifle itself gets a 9/10.
Scope: The included scope is really good, especially for an addition to the package. When I first mounted it, scope had to be adjusted almost all the way up and to the right in order to be zeroed properly for 70-120 ft. This didn't seem right so I later took it off and remounted in a better position for my eyes and this problem went away. It now zeroes in the center of it's movement range and leaves plenty of clicks in all directions to adjust for wind and elevation. The lenses are very clear, but they also tend to catch glare from the sun that partially fogs visibility. The mil-marks on the scope prove very helpful for determining bullet travel over distance and I'm very glad the scope has them. The rings it comes with are also fairly solid and do a good job of holding the scope secure. They are also easy to attach and tighten. While a variable zoom 3-9x40 scope would have been much nicer, this is still a good starter scope and it makes a great addition to the package. It gets a 9/10
Bipod: The bipod is where I have my main problem with this kit. Whoever designed it didn't really think it through. It is attached by sliding the bipod on to a small shaft on the front of the grip. The only thing holding the bipod on is a small lever that doesn't even stick out enough to grip the latch. The result is a loose, wobbly bipod that is prone to sliding off if the gun is pointed down and moved. the bipod is a decent addition, but does not work unless you don't plan on picking up the rifle and moving with it. I really feel that a weaver bipod mount should have been included with the rifle. While the bipod is great for a stationary sniper, it will definitely not hold up to a scout sniper or any combat movement. If you wanted, some black duct tape could easily keep the bipod on and allow it to fold, but I prefer to be able to remove it because it does add some weight to the front end. It gets a 4.5/10.
A few months after purchase I was experiencing some issues with bbs rolling out of the barrel whenever I closed the bolt too fast. I figured out that this was due to the fact that my hop-up was set all the way down, thus leaving too much space in the chamber so the bb was able to be pushed out by the bolt. The hop-up was turned off because I had been using .20g bbs instead of the recommended .25g ones. After making the switch to .25g bb's and re-adjusting the hop-up, this problem went away. I also took the chance during this to completely disassemble the rifle. I was a fairly easy process that can be done in about five to ten minutes with the tools included. After taking everything out and apart, including the hop-up and trigger assembly, and wiping it with a soft cloth to remove the outrageous amount of oil,I was able to re-assemble the rifle in another ten minutes. when I went to fire it again, it shot much further and more accurately, especially with the .25g bbs. The bolt was much smoother and no longer had a blob of oil around the closed handle. Cleaning it out like this greatly improved the performance of the rifle. If you feel confident, I'd suggest trying to disassemble and wipe it down to improve your performance.
Overall pros and cons:
Pros:
Accurate
Sturdy
good weight and feel
Good magazine design and capacity
scope works well
powerful(420-460FPS with .25-.28g bb's)
low price for the package deal
included speed loader
Cons:
bipod(though the issue can be fixed with some tape, if desired)
This is a great rifle, especially for the price. All of the included parts aside from the bipod are great and the rifle is very fun to use in airsoft wars. I highly recommend it! Overall: 9/10.
This gun is excellent. The scope that came with it is pretty awesome and very accurate! So for those who are thinking: "Will this gun hurt people because that is all I want to do" the answer is yes. A lot. My friend shot me down hill 20ft away and he hit me in the leg. Got a nice black and blue mark even though i was wearing jeans. Bare skin would of left me a nice welt. We played a game where we have to run from one end of the yard to the other without getting shot. This gun dominated. Its very accurate at 90-115ft 25-40yd from a balcony shooting down. The BB(.25g) curved to the right and came BACK to the center!I hit my friend (109ft away) right in the leg and left a nice black and blue mark on his thigh. And he was moving so i had to time it right! The bolt action gives it a more realistic feel to it and it was hard to cock it back at first, but then it loosened up. The only problem i had was the shipper: Hot Import toys. It took them 2 days to process everything and the regular 3-5 days shipping. It came in on a friday and the gun finally shipped the friday before so be patient. It also has to do with the fact that i live in Pittsburgh and they shipped it from California. When i opened the box, the BBS (included) were scattered and ripped open and it was a mess. The bipod is nice and gives you a good advantage and the scope is intense and very easy to Zero in. The safety broke because my friend was messing around with it too much but who needs safety anyways just kidding. Over all I give this Gun a 5/5 and the shipper (Hot Import Toys) 3/5. Hope this helped. If you guys have any questions just ask
